Bixa orellana – Annatto
The colour pigment is derived from the seeds of Annatto plant. It grows in tropical and subtropical regions. The yellowish or reddish powder is used for dyeing butter. It is also used as food colour. In India it is used for making Sindur. It can be used for dyeing textile.
It gives a earthy shades of yellow, orange.
